What is welcome

Noncommercial study, use, modification, and sharing are welcome. Third-party works keep their own licenses, and versions already released under MIT remain under MIT.

Before anyone makes money

  1. They must be a natural person earning fees only from their own independent freelance, consulting, or educational labor.
  2. They must first make a real, non-trivial improvement and publish its complete source, evidence, and reproduction instructions under MIRL-1.0 at no charge.
  3. They must receive specific prior written approval from the Trust of Trusts.
  4. They may not turn the work or improvement into equity, royalties, passive profit, or another capital return.

Board of Trustees of Trustees

R. Michael Glover is the original founder, lead steward, and initial acting member. Reviews belong to an engineers-only Board of Trustees of Trustees. Engineers working on ChatGPT, Anthropic systems, and comparable AI systems are invited and eligible on equal terms.

Service is voluntary and begins only through a signed agreement providing zero compensation—no salary, fee, honorarium, equity, token, gift, reimbursement, future promise, or other exchange of value. Naming an organization or its engineers does not appoint anyone or imply endorsement, sponsorship, or affiliation.
