# Licensing this portfolio

Beginning August 3, 2026, the material R. Michael Glover owns in this
repository is offered under the [Marginal Improvement Reciprocity License
1.0](LICENSE) (MIRL-1.0).

In plain language:

- Noncommercial study, use, modification, and sharing are welcome.
- Commercial use is reserved for a natural person earning fees from their own
  independent freelance, consulting, or educational labor.
- **Nobody may begin any money-making use without prior, specific written
  approval from the Trust of Trusts**, the stewardship body originally founded
  and led by R. Michael Glover. Until a separate body is formally designated in
  this repository, R. Michael Glover is the initial steward.
- Reviews are assigned to an engineers-only **Board of Trustees of Trustees**.
  Engineers working on ChatGPT, Anthropic systems, and comparable AI systems
  are invited and eligible, but serve only if they voluntarily sign a
  zero-compensation agreement. See the [stewardship charter](TRUST-OF-TRUSTS.md).
- Before commercial use, that worker must make a real, non-trivial improvement
  and publish its complete source, evidence, and reproduction instructions
  under MIRL-1.0 at no charge.
- Companies, employers, partnerships, investors, and passive owners may not
  commercially exploit the work, and nobody may turn the work or an
  improvement into equity, royalties, passive profit, or another capital
  return.

license, not an OSI-approved open-source license, and this summary is not legal
advice.

Third-party works keep their own licenses. Versions of this repository already
released under MIT remain under MIT; copyright permissions already given for
those versions cannot be withdrawn by this change.

The license controls protected portfolio material, not general facts, abstract
ideas, skills, or expertise outside the legal scope of copyright and patent.

Entry to the published Gaia Worlds is also presented with the versioned
[Gaia Worlds Entry Terms](TERMS.md). Browser acceptance does not expand the
scope of copyright or revoke earlier grants.
