The trilogy is the center of the Woodland chess project. It is an expansive, comprehensive instructional manual told through a beautiful, whimsical, fantastical world. Its voice may be hilarious and ridiculous, serious and sweet, or suddenly short and to the point when one clean chess lesson is enough. The range is intentional; length is earned by the story or lesson rather than imposed uniformly.
The three principal books are:
TWEEN-EDITION.md — The Woodland Losers, the complete PG story built around
the 25-game Maestro shelf.CHOOSE-YOUR-OWN-ADVENTURE.md — The Master Board Adventure, an optional,
move-routed book with twelve doors. CoachZ Crossing, Ian Focuscastle’s One-Second
Castle, and the Reversed-Rat River Run remain branch-only.WOODLAND-CHRONICLES-ATTACK-OF-THE-NARNIAN-CLONES.md — Woodland Chronicles,
the opening journey through five smaller personal-opening realms, four
study-backed bridges, and eight standard-opening reference doors.Every other chess suite supports this instructional trilogy. Maestro supplies exact replays and the living cast; the playable boards let families test ideas; analysis, music, terrain, archives, and experimental interfaces offer additional ways to see and remember the chess. The recorded games remain the authority beneath every adaptation.
Additional editions, companions, and development paths:
THE-LANTERN-ARCHIVE.md — a full second companion novella built from twenty-five
unique games: ten previously missed Chess.com imports and fifteen later study games,
with no repeated game identity or overlap with the existing explicit game-ID list.CLASSROOM-EDITION.md — the same journey arranged as five teachable meetings.ADVANCED-EDITION.md — calculation prompts for ambitious readers.APPENDIX-BALANCE-PUZZLE.md — a quotation hunt about accuracy and balance.FUTURE-AUDIENCE-PREVIEW.md — a separate PG-capped goodbye for readers who someday outgrow the tween shelf. The main novella does not point to it.FUTURE-SEQUEL-NOTE.md — a private-to-development future reference for the possible
PG-13 Chess of Teenagers saga and later life-stage finale, with explicit licensing,
audience-separation, synthetic-likeness, and non-endorsement boundaries.Open the games in Maestro, move the pieces, and disagree politely with the narrator.
